The route is suitable for everyone and especially for families with children, because of the places visited, in the shade of vast pine forests, and the presence of the interesting ornithological museum. The starting point (602 metres) is the Candeleto Forestry Corps Headquarters, which can be reached by taking the SP201 road that runs alongside the Carpinella stream in the direction of Pietralunga, then turning left just before reaching the town. Then follow the signs indicating Museo Ornitologico and Stazione C.F.S., where you can park.<\/span>
Leave the museum on the right and ascend along the shady path through coniferous forests, past the Candeleto campsite until you reach a junction with a tarmac road, where you take the beaten earth path on your left into the forest. Do not follow the red and white signs indicating the way to Bocca Serriola.<\/span>
The undergrowth is largely colonised by ferns. At a fork, always following the blue-white sign, you keep to the left and arrive on Monte Croce, between the pine forest and a colony of oaks.<\/span>
The summit of Mount Croce (711 m), occupied by a repeater, offers a panorama of the Carpina valley.<\/span>
The nature trail continues parallel to the carriage road, again crossing the signpost for Bocca Serriola, until it breaks away from it as it begins to descend.<\/span>
At a signposted crossroads, turn left into a more mature forest until you reach the lowest point of the walk where you cross a ditch.<\/span>
We ascend slightly and in a few minutes the path leads to the unpaved Caipizzichelli road, which we take to the left. At the height of a fountain, an educational path begins with green-white signs, where tags indicate the names of the relevant plants.<\/span>
Having completed the Flora Trail, you return back to the same crossroads and continue, this time to the right, past the sawmill of the former Mountain Community and a stone building, until you reach the starting point.<\/span><\/p>\n
